Hey friends. I’m thinking about selling our garden produce in the future and just wanted to do some market research. If you don’t mind helping me out here by answering this poll. So I m thinking of selling family fresh food boxes, including vegies and eggs , (possibly meat too in a year). So my idea is to have a customer base that does online ordering and paying and either having a pick up or drop off service. Please tell me what you think. Which boxes do you think you would value to choose this way of purchasing vegetables. please add anything else that influences your food consuming decisions.

Kumera grows well in Reporoa. Also doing an experiment to grow spuds in the glasshouse over winter. Often when preparing a nice spud for the pot, I will cut off the end with the eyes and use this as my seed potato.

Today I am filling up our glasshouse composting bed. I find the gentle heat from the composting helps warm the glasshouse and the plants like warm soil too. We found that when we had -6 outside last winter no freezing inside.
So ontop of last year’s Guinea pig bed (Guinea pigs are perfect animals to winter in glasshouse), I am putting last year’s calf shed sawdust, then small animals compost and bedding, followed by the floor sweepings of the chook shed which is a mixture of poop/sawdust. I will top this off with a thick layer of composting bale-age. I will also put a just sprinkle of organic fert into the growing layer
Then plant into it. Photos coming.

Welcome

Welcome to our small lifestyle farm. We are developing gardens, to produce fruit, vegetables, flowers and herbs. We have a small flock of sheep for growing wool that I turn into yarn, by dyeing with plants, fungi and lichen, and hand spinning.

Our farm host’s travelers from HelpX, work exchange, as we share our ifestyle and people might learn about our type of gardening. I would like to also be holding gardening workshops and woolcrafting workshops in the near future.
