We have finished the artificial mating of synchronised heifer returns today and the lovely bulls we got from Jason and Kaylene Bennett (Beach Valley Dairies) are back on the job. Welcome spring weather! Heifers enjoying some freshly mowed grass by Mark Dobson as he works to maintain pasture quality.

Well it’s been a wild ride since Thursday, but we have a lot to be thankful for - including that we finally got power restored at lunchtime today. Big ups to Mark Dobson for working tirelessly to keep the generators running with water getting to all stock and the cows milked twice a day. Thanks also to our staff for continuing to look after the stock and work hard in some very trying conditions - we can’t do this without you!

We can talk about preparedness later - I’ve dealt with multiple farmers near tears today from stress and exhaustion. Let’s keep being kind to each other, help everyone get through, and look after the stock and the people. There’s plenty we can learn from this once the dust has settled!
