We’re getting tagged in group posts that we can’t read.
We’ve requested to join all the local Selwyn/Rolleston groups but a few have declined us because we’re a ‘page’, not a person.

It’s a standoff - because of how we operate - anonymously. We work undercover to protect the dignity of everyone involved.
It’s kindness without a spotlight.
We hope the group admins might change their minds for us one day🤞🏽but until then, thank you to the people who keep us in the loop so we can continue to support our community.

Soup sisters is a secret group of locals who occasionally cook 6 portions when they only need 4. Those extra portions are frozen into single meals, and provided free of charge to those who need them. We are not a registered charity and we don’t operate out of registered kitchens. These are meals we make in our homes, for our families, with love and care.

There’s no strict criteria to access our support - we prioritise the elderly and vulnerable, but we’ll help anyone who needs a kai, until our freezers are empty again. We trust people to only ask for help if they NEED us (if you just want a night off cooking, call your mum).

This page was set up because people who post anonymously in groups, can’t be contacted, and anonymity is our core value. No shame for you, no glory for us. Just genuine community kindness.

We will NEVER accept money, and will only send someone to your door if we’ve ok’d it with you, first. If we’ve arranged a delivery, one of our drivers will knock on the door, hand over a meal, and leave.

We share until we run out.
Then we replenish, and start sharing again.
