There are few places in the world where you get the sense of land emerging from the ocean — where sky, land and sea are continuous — New Zealand’s Paroa Bay Winery and Estate is one of these places. Our superb property features three supremely luxury villas, a boutique vineyard, and our restaurant Sage. In the same way the land traces below the waterline, the Paroa Bay experience is continuous — f

rom the considered architecture of our villas, through the carefully selected ingredients on our menu, to the artisanal quality of our wines, we offer an experience of complete relaxation and luxury in a truly unique and awe-inspiring setting.

We are thrilled to see Sage recognised among New Zealand’s leading restaurants in the Good Food Guide 2026, and very proud to have retained our one-hat status.

Sage has always been a place for people to come together, shaped by Northland’s ingredients and the creativity of those who grow, gather, cook and serve here. This recognition belongs to our entire team, along with the producers, guests and community who continue to be a huge part of what we do.

Thank you and , and congratulations to our wonderful team at Sage.

A note from our winemaker, Margot -

Winter is always a quietly productive time here. Andi and Santi are steadily making their way through pruning as we wait for the first signs of budbreak in the Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. The vines are waking a little later this year, giving them a proper winter rest before the growing season begins, which is exactly what we want to see.

In the winery, our first bottling of the 2026 Rosé is almost underway, and we are so pleased with how it is drinking. The 2026 Pinot Gris and 2025 reds will follow, with each wine grown, crafted and bottled here on the estate. There is a wonderful sense of anticipation as the vineyard begins to wake, and a new collection of Paroa Bay wines prepares to leave the winery.

Regards, Margot
