This is one of the most complicated and rewarding projects I’ve done to date. I was honorered to create this case to protect and carry a very special wooden katana sword and dagger used in Judos “Kime no Kata” .
The carvings are of the kodokan flower and the nz judo fern which is made of tied black belts. The words are “kodokan” and “aroha nui”
The case opens to reveal a black velvet interior with a snug leather area for the dagger and four recycled rimu and leather circles that cradle the katana.
Thank you to my great friend and Sensei Yui Sakamoto, you are an inspiration.
