Go team Wild Oats.

First for Sophie and Second for Anna in the virtual dressage competition.

Thankyou to all that made this event happen and to the judges who must have spent hours glued to their computer screen watching all the entrants videos.

A great competition for all and so lovely to have our riding school kids able to have a go and doing so well.

Awesome work girls and now back to the training.

🌿 Wild Oats Farm Update 🐴

Wild Oats will be closed from 28th September to 4th October while I’m away doing something very exciting! 🤫✨

I’ll tell you all about it when I get back!

We still have 2 spaces available on both days of our holiday programme — 5th and 7th October, so there’s still time to book.

🐴 Wild Oats activities are available for ages 5 years and up.

🐴 Riding lessons are available even if you’ve never ridden before. If it’s your first time, come along, meet the ponies and give it a try. We can take things at your own pace.

🐴 Paddock-to-Arena Pony Experience

This is a little different from a riding lesson. You start out in the paddock, spend time with your pony, bring them in, groom and get to know each other before heading into the arena.

There is also a therapeutic element to this work. Therapy doesn’t always have to be about focusing on what is difficult or what is going wrong. It can also be about feeling good, having fun, connecting, building confidence and creating positive experiences.

Spending time with a pony and being outdoors can provide a different kind of space — somewhere to slow down, breathe, be present and, when needed, have the space to explore and work through things. Sometimes connection happens naturally while you’re doing something together.

The pony and the environment become part of the experience, creating opportunities for trust, communication, confidence and wellbeing — without everything having to be put into words.

It’s not about being a perfect rider — it’s about connection, confidence, enjoyment and sharing your space with a pony. 🌿🐴❤️

Spring has sprung at Wild Oats.

Miss Haydee taking her rider for her first rising trot and they aced it.

Two of our riders have been practicing for the virtual dressage as part of the Nelson Dressage competition and did the team proud riding their first tests today.

Looking forward to seeing their scores and back to work practicing for their next test.

Well done to all the riders.

A fantastic end to the winter series . Mr Bojangles,Miss Nellie and their very grateful human have made great progress.

Whilst we are only at the start, it is a great journey of learning.

Thankyou Nelson Dressage and and Moore for making these events happen.

We are going to have a little break from Dressage over the Summer and have some playtime with jumping.🤠

It's been a very sad week here at Wild Oats Farm.

After the unexpected loss of our beloved Bob, we also had to say goodbye to our lovely donkey, Jenny.

Thank you so much to everyone who has sent kind messages, shared photos, and reached out with your love and support following Bob's passing. His loss was so unexpected and has left a huge space here at Wild Oats Farm. Your kindness has meant more to us than words can say during this difficult time.

Bob had experienced a heart attack and was in heart failure, and while the decision to say goodbye is never an easy one, he took that decision from me. No matter how old they are or how unwell they become, a part of you always wants them to live forever. But the greatest act of love we can give them is to put their needs before our own and let them go when the time is right, no matter how much it breaks our hearts.

As we were still trying to come to terms with losing Bob, we were also preparing ourselves for the final gift we could give our old girl, Jenny.

For some time, we had known this day was coming. Old age was taking its toll, and she was beginning to show us that life was no longer the quality of life every animal deserves. Making the decision to let her go was heartbreaking, but it was also the kindest thing we could do for her. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by love.

One of our biggest concerns has been Jenny's son, Jack. He has never known life without his mum by his side. We had hoped to find another donkey companion for Jack before the time came, but despite our efforts, that sadly didn't work out. We will continue our search in the hope of finding the right companion for him when the time is right.

In the meantime, Jack is being well looked after by Miss Haydee and Miss Em, who will continue to keep him company and support him as he adjusts to life without his mum. We know he is in caring company, and we'll continue to do everything we can to help him through this transition.

Losing two much-loved animals in the same week has been incredibly difficult. Bob and Jenny each left their own unique mark on Wild Oats Farm, and both will be deeply missed.

For this reason, I have made the decision not to run the holiday programmes during this time. I need some time to reflect, process these losses, and give myself the space to grieve while continuing to care for the animals here at Wild Oats Farm.

Thank you again to everyone who has reached out with your kindness, compassion and support. It has meant more to us than you know. ❤️
