Are you a harder worker than Pickles the Pig? Then we want to hear from you! 🤠

🌱 Experienced Market Gardener —
The ideal candidate has extensive market gardening experience, is organised and wildly passionate about growing produce with a focus on nutrient density, soil health and organic principles.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the market garden alongside Loren, including but not limited to: tunnel house/seeding planning & management, w**d management, soil preparation, integrated pest management and disease monitoring, compost & feed application and irrigation. Continue and maintain the seasonal planting rotation and record keeping. Harvesting produce for farm shop.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
•Have a passion for Organic gardening practices and philosophies.
•Ability to be self-motivated and work independently.
•Able and willing to work outside in all weather conditions.
•Be able to perform physical work required for garden maintenance
•Friendly, approachable manner, as there can be daily interactions with our shop customers.
Permanent contract, 30+ hours a week.

🐷 General Farm-hand — This position is for an all rounder person. Must be physically fit, happy to get stuck in no matter the job (or the smell), be confident around animals, self motivated, can work independently and outside in all weather. Casual contract 6-8 hours per week.

Over the last couple of days, farmer Loren has been keeping an extra watchful eye on one of our cows. She was showing signs of calving, for the first time, however it wasn’t progressing. After 48 hours of around the clock care, and multiple phone calls with the vet, the decision was made that she needed help to calve. With the amazing team Te Puke Veterinary Clinic an emergency caesarean was done. If we had left her “to do her thing”, she and the calf would have both died. However she has a healthy calf, named ‘Lucky’ (by the kids) and mama cow is doing well 💚
