Hi Everybody,
We are Omnom, a food trailer focused on bringing great food and experiences to people. We do Catering and Events, as well as a weekly trade in Omokoroa and Te Puna.
Now that the Summer's here we are looking for a keen person to join our very small team to help us out with anything the food trailer business brings.
We will need someone who can help us as a Kitchen Assistant. The tasks can include helping us with preparing food, assembling dishes during service, taking orders and talking to customers, doing parts of the clean up and in general being an all rounder. During events or Caterings we might need you to help us with setting up tables and tablewares, waitering on tables or delivering meals and drinks to customers.
Sounds like a lot? It is, but don't worry - we are more than happy to train the right candidate!
The main thing we are looking for is a motivated, energetic person with a personality that fits with us. Even if you've never worked before, as long as you are willing to learn, we are willing to train you.
If you have previous experiences - great! We just want to let you know that working in a tiny food trailer is very different to working in a commercial kitchen, and you might need to adjust your skills accordingly.
You will be working mostly with both of us: Laurence is the head chef and creator of all dishes and menus. He will give you instructions or training on anything related to cooking. Jasmin is responsible for the customer service, barista coffee and for special occasions being a waitress. She will be able to train you in anything regarding “front of house”.
We are looking for someone who is willing to work Thursday and Friday nights from 5pm to 8pm. This is a weekly thing and we need someone who is reliable and punctual. It is only 3hrs each day, so we expect our ideal candidate to do these without skipping every couple of weeks. Within reason there will be days you can take off.
There will be some events coming up over summer which are happening on Weekends where we will need a hand. We would give you these dates as early as we know them and you can choose whether it works for you or not. As these can happen anywhere in the bay of plenty, own transportation would be preferable. We can potentially find a way to work around this, if you don't have a license or car. There will also be some prep work at our home base which will come up depending on the weekend events.
If you are reading this and you can't commit to fridays and thursday nights, but would love to have some casual hours on some weekends, we would still love to hear from you. We are always looking out for casual staff to help with big gigs.
It is a casual employment with a minimum of 6hrs per week and additional hours on some weekends or other afternoons. Our calendar is starting to fill up, so in the next few months there is the possibility to do a lot more hours each week. We are expecting to keep going with the Thursday and Friday night trade over winter, so the right candidate might move into a permanent position. The wage to start off with is $20 per hour and we will review this from time to time and raise your wage accordingly to your responsibilities.
There are no previous skills or qualifications required yet welcome, a keen attitude to learning new skills is the main thing we are looking for.
We are happy to hire anyone 16yrs and older, who is looking for some steady work on the side, whether you're still in school, studying, a mom who is keen to get out for a few hours a week,...
