Experimenting doesn’t always work but it’s a good place to start. Here, we layered some Kenyan pea berry coffee with cascara tea in the batch brewer... the ratios maybe need work, so we’ll try again.

Cascara is not easy to get hold of in New Zealand, but you can get yours through our website (link in bio) or in person at the roasting depot.

Wondering what is cascara? Cascara, or coffee cherry tea as it’s sometimes called is the dried husks of coffee cherries. Known for being lightly fruity and mild, tasting notes will vary depending on the varietal - ours tastes like bright apple juice with a floral background, lingering subtle dried apricot.

Wondering how to brew Cascara tea? Our method is very simple: use 40g per 1L of water. Ideal water temp 90 degrees celsius. Steep for 4min, or longer if desired. Yield 2.5L tea from a 100g bag.

Once you’ve brewed it, Cascara tea is fun to play with, great hot or cold, it’s a versatile addition to all manner of beverages from refreshing iced teas to breezy summer cocktails.

You might have noticed... our website was down for a minute there, kinda stressful if we’re being honest.

It’s ok though, we’re back online baby, and to pass on the good (relieved) feels, all new coffee subscriptions until the end of September get 10% off their first order with code: SUBSTEN

Will you be joining us? Hassle-free coffee supply from a small family-run local business, what more could you want for your caffeine habit?

PSA: despite our best efforts to avoid it our Squarespace website is currently down, this is outside our control. It may have affected your subscription orders. If this is you, we’re sorry, please get in touch so we can help. We’re doing everything we can to make sure this is sorted soon, and the site back up and running. In the meantime we can take orders manually, our roastery and espresso bar are open and running as usual, and we’ll update you soon.
