Cows run in a high sheep ratio system like this need three things before anything else constitution, fats and structure coupled with a moderate mature cow size. Without these attributes it can be a very long winter!

On the recommendation of Jimmy Joe Henderson a great friend and confidant of the late Lindsay Jones we have imported semen on B Bar Black Mass 3045. Jimmy came out here in July 2024 and after looking at our cows and assessing our program recommended the Bull. Bred in Baker Montana by Lunds Angus he is described as the quintessential commercial cattleman’s Bull with perfect feet, breeding moderate fertile females He is in calf to 25 cows for our September drop and we are looking forward to see how he goes.

You don’t have to compromise performance when you buy FE tolerant rams anymore and this fella is a good example. Heaps of scope and grunt with a FE test of .67 with a Nil rise.

A little contraption I came up with to clear water lines that are lined with crud causing head loss and dropping flow rate. Might be helpful to someone who is tearing their hair out! I note it goes better if you have it around the other way where you flush air down the line. Feather it in slowly or you with block the pipe and open a joiner down the line so there is some for it to clear out to.
