We are committed to improving the agricultural knowledge of dairy production in New Zealand. The Westgate Farm was purchased in 1914. It is a family-run farm at Orakau – ‘the place of trees’. We are focused on animal welfare with a strong consideration for the environment and sustainability; both economically and globally. We operate to ensure that the land has a rich and diverse ecosystem. Dairy

production is at the heart of Westgate Farm. To ensure there is enough high quality feed for the animals during the hot summer droughts and the cold wet winters; maize and nitrogen-fixing plants are grown throughout the year. We also work in conjunction with Bryan McKay from Dairy Production Systems, to maximise the herd health and productivity.
