While most of our RDA horses are heading off on their summer holidays, complete with paddock lounging, new friends, and adventures that will have them refreshed and ready for 2026 — Lovely Lulu’s summer looks a little different.
After some ongoing lameness that rest and shoeing just couldn’t fix, we dug a little deeper with the amazing Cambridge Equine Hospital. Turns out Lulu has a keratoma (rude little thing 😒) that needs to be removed. The good news? It’s very treatable. The slightly less exciting news? It comes with a long recovery, so Lulu is officially booked in for a slow, sensible, well-supervised recovery period.
We’re incredibly grateful that Lulu’s wonderful owner is completely on board Stone Hill Horse Trek and, even more grateful to Margaret Park NZ, who have generously offered to rehab Lulu at no charge. Acts of kindness like this remind us just how lucky we are to be surrounded by such an amazing RDA community 💛💛💛💛💛
Lulu truly has the best in the business looking out for her, and while she won’t be clocking up holiday snaps just yet, she’ll be soaking up top-notch care, plenty of love, and a clear plan to get her back where she belongs.
We’ll keep you all updated on her progress 💪💛
