Haha funny description for our little Elmo 😅

Hi, I’m Extraordinary Elmo ✨🐴 (aka Elmo). Tiny but built like a thoroughbred 💪⚡I like to think I’m exceptionally handsome… and honestly, I’m not wrong 😏

Food is my love language 🍎🥕
I’m not one for the centre of attention 🚫🎤 Can be a bit spicy 🌶️… but treats fix everything 🫶🍪

I might swing my ass at you 🍑💨
But you’ll still find me completely adorable 🥰

A Happy New Year 2026!

Normally this is our busiest time of the year, so starting 2026 a little differently has been nice — still in Germany, playing in the snow, building snowmen, and taking things a bit more relaxed ❄️⛄

I honestly couldn’t have said this better myself.

Lulu’s recovery is going incredibly well, and that’s entirely thanks to the outstanding care she’s receiving at Margaret Park NZ. We’re beyond grateful to everyone involved — she’s truly in the best hands!

While most of our RDA horses are heading off on their summer holidays, complete with paddock lounging, new friends, and adventures that will have them refreshed and ready for 2026 — Lovely Lulu’s summer looks a little different.

After some ongoing lameness that rest and shoeing just couldn’t fix, we dug a little deeper with the amazing Cambridge Equine Hospital. Turns out Lulu has a keratoma (rude little thing 😒) that needs to be removed. The good news? It’s very treatable. The slightly less exciting news? It comes with a long recovery, so Lulu is officially booked in for a slow, sensible, well-supervised recovery period.

We’re incredibly grateful that Lulu’s wonderful owner is completely on board Stone Hill Horse Trek and, even more grateful to Margaret Park NZ, who have generously offered to rehab Lulu at no charge. Acts of kindness like this remind us just how lucky we are to be surrounded by such an amazing RDA community 💛💛💛💛💛

Lulu truly has the best in the business looking out for her, and while she won’t be clocking up holiday snaps just yet, she’ll be soaking up top-notch care, plenty of love, and a clear plan to get her back where she belongs.

We’ll keep you all updated on her progress 💪💛

Time for an update on Lulu and Buddy

Everything is slowly coming together, thanks to the help of so many amazing people.

Lulu’s surgery is booked for Tuesday. After that, she will recover for at least two weeks at Margaret Park NZ, who very kindly donated her stay as Lulu is part of the RDA Cambridge.
A huge thank you as well to my good friend Carolyn for her generous donation, and to the many amazing people who have offered to look after Lulu during her long road of recovery. If all goes well, Lulu will be warmly welcomed back to the RDA 🤞

Buddy has also hit the jackpot — he can definitely stay at the RDA Cambridge over the summer holidays. He is currently doing really well and feeling strong, so we will reassess his situation at the beginning of February to see if he can continue as part of the RDA or if he needs to move on.

Feeling incredibly grateful for the support around us ❤️

Still looking for a safe grazing place for Buddy

I’m still searching for a place for Buddy with limited grass and careful grazing management. He’s super easy and just needs somewhere safe where his grass intake can be controlled.

If you know anyone who might be able to help, please send me a message.

Andreea ticks so many boxes for us - she was formerly a student here and is also a rider who does some amazing volunteer work. And now she is flying out to Christchurch to compete at the Special Olympics National Games! She's been practicing her dressage test on our lovely mare Boo. We're so excited for you Andreea and all of us here at Ambury are cheering you on! 💖

It seems things really do come in threes…:-(

While I’ve had an amazing response regarding Lulu and everything is finally starting to fall into place (more on that soon), I now have another challenge to face.

Buddy, my gorgeous Standardbred, has been diagnosed with a severely rotated pedal bone. He’s currently in bar shoes and pads, comfortable, and not lame, but sadly this means he can’t continue with the RDA in Cambridge.

While I am overseas, I need a place for him. Therefore I’m putting my feelers out to see if anyone might be interested in him for light hacking only (no steep downhills), or someone who can offer a very safe grazing option, (paid of course), where he’s managed carefully — as another laminitis episode would be fatal for him.

If you think you could offer Buddy a safe and caring place, please send me a message. He truly deserves the best.

News no one wants to hear…

My sweet Lulu has been diagnosed with a keratoma tumour in her front left foot and is no longer suitable for the RDA in Cambridge. Surgery is necessary, followed by a long period of aftercare — and to be honest, I am not sure yet where to go from here.

It’s incredibly hard to juggle news like this while being overseas, and my heart is heavy. 😪

If anyone has experience with keratomas or similar diagnoses, I would really appreciate hearing your feedback, suggestions or any ‘success stories’ you’re willing to share.

Thanks for your support ❤️
