Hi everyone 🐟
Open tomorrow Friday 21st in Ohope from 10.30am

Well what a day. 3am start and not a tarakihi in sight so it was all worth it. First shot out deep was appalling so we steamed 10miles to one of our best spots and just managed to get enough to open. The engine was about the only one happy with her day as she got a gooood drink.

Fishing was poor but we managed to bag enough for the truck all be it snapper....but have we got a treat for you this week.....some beautiful bastard cod. Don't let the name fool you as you'd be a silly bastard to turn down this opportunity! Known for their sweet, white, firm flesh, many anglers would take them over hapuka! Not the prettiest of things but they make up for it in taste.....
But all jokes aside they're not too bad eating if you batter them, flesh is very flaky/soft but its not the worst fish I've eaten, certainly not in my top 50 tho either.

Few other options like some sea perch, a few blue mackerel, Porae(from the same family as Tarakihi so we were getting close), a couple blue cod and some lemon fish and trusty snapper.

Crayfish and packhorse are on the menu as well as fritters prawns minced paua and a few others

We may be operating fortnightly for a bit but will try open as regularly as possible. Also the ph number on the page is still down as I haven't had a chance to transfer it to a new sim.

Too much to the bro Rys that helped us out today you done mean, better not bring those red bands on the boat next time tho bro, white gumboots only no bad luck 🀣🀣

Cheers and enjoy your weekend πŸ‘

Hi everyone🐟

Boats heading out nice and early tomorrow morning and we plan to be open this Friday 21st catch dependant

We were sposed to be out there today but forecast didnt look that great for off shore. Heading out deep to try target some tarakihi. Fingers crossed we can pick some up it would be a nice change from snapper lol.

Apologies for delay in contact for those who messaged last week asking if we were open, I'm still getting used to messenger and for some reason they take days to come through sometime. But just a friendly reminder no post come Thursday evening means were closed.

Minced Paua punnets are arriving tomorrow, no fresh oysters in this as they've been rained off but pre frozen punnets for 20 each. Crayfish will be coming in the truck also with packhorse crays for a larger option.

We will update tomorrow evening if there's time with what fish is available and any other products that come to mind.

Cheers πŸ‘

Hi everyone 🐟
Open tomorrow Friday 17th July from 10.30am in Ohope at the Maraetotara reserve till around 4ish depending of fish levels

Well good day on the water this week with some flat weather. Found the Kahawai again so its swimming out the door 4.50kg. Also had time and fish to get the smoker going again so smoked fish on the menu this week, bit of a better attempt more me thinks more moist and better colour.

Even managed to snag a few gurnard so bags will be available although not as many as you'd like no doubt. Along with our Snapper

The boys on the Teepookana hooked it it up again so fresh albacore loins are coming aswell

Also in some more oysters in awesome condition as usual thanks to the team up north.

Mussel and Paua fritters, whole Paua and cooked and Raw Australian Prawns also in stock and that's about all from memory

Scallops will be making a comeback shortly should be by the end of the month all going to plan

Cheers and enjoy your weekend πŸ‘

Open tomorrow Thursday 2nd July in Ohope at the Maraetotara reserve from 10.30am

Well bit of a different week this one, the moon was full and bright making fishing pretty hard. Didn't catch a hell of a lot but caught a visit from the navy and a couple of fisheries officers that were onboard the frigate on our way home.

Seen a big boat pop up from behind the horizon, originally thought it was a trawler but it kept getting closer at a fast rate. 'Look its the navy'. Next minute a random call on my cellphone explaining who they were and they'd like to board us. 'Sure' with a bit of a shock. 5 minutes later the skiff turned up and 7 of them climbed on to inspect us. Bit of a surreal experience especially in such a short amount of time, turns out the vessel has a top speed of 24 knots. Anywho all went well and we were left to carry on our way, wont be something ill forget in a while.

Anyways fresh fish available tomorrow
Snapper Kingfish Kahawai and a bin of mixed species
Prawns
Oysters arriving in the morning
Fritters
Whole Paua
And that about all I can remember for now till we check the freezer

Cheers and enjoy your weekend πŸ‘

Open THURSDAY 2nd July in Ohope
(Will update Wednesday evening if anything changes)

Hi everyone 🐟

Firstly thanks for all the warm wishes and support! Been a bit of a long recovery but we back at it this week. Gears baited, dolabs are iced and the cobwebs dusted off the boat

Bit of a change in days this week as my daughter is arriving midday Friday for school holidays so we will open a day earlier. The following week it is Matariki on Friday, so we will open Thursday aswell, if we can make it happen with the kids being at home.

Will update if anything changes on Wednesday evening but this is the plan so far.

Cheers and catch you on Thursday πŸ‘
