Another Fieldays ticked off!

An epic couple of days filled with too many coffees, snacks on tap, tractors and diggers!

Alice also had the opportunity to join the panel at the Rural Women New Zealand Fork and Talk event ! An awesome evening, and a great chance to connect with some incredible rural business women and dignitaries from the sector! It’s not every day you get the chance to talk about your business in front of the finance minister!

Was a quiet weekend at home after a busy week ! The boys are already pumped for next year!

Great to see a bit of rain in the forecast as plants head out the door!!

We are stoked to be working with Ben and the team from Aotearoa Restoration again this season! They offer an amazing service including site prep, planting, pest plant control and everything else in between! What’s even better is they love planting Ellepots! So if you’re looking for an extra pair of hands for your next project give Ben a buzz, or contact Alice to arrange a joint site visit.

Well that’s a wrap for the 25/26 season! The girls are officially on holiday! It’s been a big week dry cowing the herd and teat sealing our heifers which we do all ourselves. Big effort from the team and a great job done.

We are stoked with where we have finished up. 6% up on last years production driven by abit more twice a day milking on the young herd over summer due to favourable conditions.

Total production 221,400 kgMS
1800kgms/ha
Peak cows 415
533kgms/cow

The farm and cows are looking good. Average pasture cover (APC) sitting at 2,400kgDM/ha. This excludes new grass paddocks which have just been grazed. So in reality APC will be slightly lower.

We had a draft up today. We will be sending 250 of our later calving cows over the road to a winter block this weekend. Time to enjoy a few slower mornings and hit reset before we drive into another season!

We have been a bit slack on posting recently! Life has been a bit hectic between the farm, the nursery and our wedding thrown in the mix!

After an epic 8 days off farm we are back and ready to crack into the end of season rush!

We have our final herd test tomorrow, and following that will begin drying the girls off for a well deserved break. We are aiming to be fully dried off by the 20th …… (weather depending)

The nursery is also ramping up with plants starting to head out the gate! We are incredibly grateful for everyone’s support this season. Our riparian/re-veg stock is running very low, with a number of species sold out - so if you’re looking at planting this season get in quick to avoid disappointment! If you’re looking for natives for landscaping, we still have a great range available and would love to help you out.
