📢GMO Regulation Proposals Announced! 🔬

FSANZ is currently accepting submissions for proposed changes to NZ's GMO regulations. Under the new rules, technologies like CRISPR, which edit genes rather than adding foreign DNA, would not be considered GMOs👎This could have a profound impact on organic farming.

BioGro has just published a blog article titled "The Challenges Certified Organic Farming Faces in the Age of Genetically Engineered Crops." It details why loosening these regulations could threaten the future of organic production in New Zealand.

GE foods may be allowed in to NZ without the need for labelling them. We believe it’s absolutely important to know what’s in our food and how it was made/grown!

Get your submission in before 9th September to oppose these new rules!

💥 Let's mobilise! 💥We need as many people as possible to make submissions to Food Standards Australia NZ (FSANZ) by 10 September.

👉 FSANZ is proposing to exempt gene editing so it's not regulated as GE! This would mean GE food ingredients would sneak into our food without us knowing. We say NO! We need robust regulation, safety assessments, labelling and consumer choice.
