We are seeking an experienced and motivated Farm Assistant to join our team on a well set up 400-cow split-calving dairy farm just minutes from Cambridge.

This is a genuine opportunity to step into a tidy, progressive farming operation with excellent infrastructure, strong systems, and a great location. The farm is flat and easy to work, with a modern 18-aside DeLaval parallel parlour, in-shed feeding, and a fully computerised system with custom feeding for each cow. We also have a brand-new covered feed pad with a flood wash system, plus a support block located just 500 metres down the road.
For the right person, this role offers more than just a job. It offers a well-run farm, good infrastructure, quality accommodation, and the convenience of being close to Cambridge and excellent schooling.

About the role
You will be involved in the day-to-day running of the farm, including milking, feeding, animal health, and general farm work. We are looking for someone who takes pride in doing the basics well, has a good attitude, and wants to be part of a team working to a high standard.

Key responsibilities include:
• Milking and dairy hygiene
• Feeding stock and assisting with feed management
• Monitoring animal health and carrying out treatments
• General farm maintenance and day-to-day operational support

What we are looking for
• Minimum 2 years’ dairy farming experience
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Reliable, hardworking, and able to work both independently and in a team
• Good stock sense and pride in presentation
• A current driver’s licence
• NZ citizenship or residency, as we are not an accredited employer

What we offer
• Competitive salary based on experience
• 11 on, 3 off roster
• Modern, well-maintained farm infrastructure
• A flat, well-laid-out farm that is easy to work
• Quality on-farm accommodation
The accommodation is a quality, well-maintained three-bedroom weatherboard home with one bathroom and a double garage. It is Healthy Homes compliant, has a woodburner and HRV system, and has been consistently kept up to date.

Location benefits
The farm is located only minutes from Cambridge, giving you easy access to town while still enjoying the advantages of rural living. Goodwood School is just 330 metres down the road, with buses from there to both Cambridge Middle School and Cambridge High School, making this an excellent option for a couple or young family.

Start date: 1 June 2026
If you are looking for a solid role on a well-run farm with good systems, good infrastructure, and a great location, we would like to hear from you.

At the conclusion of our sale we will be offering 20 straws of each of the following bulls with 100% of the proceeds going to the Steiner family to help get Quinn home.

All these bulls have been proven in the dairy industry as well as been pivotal sires in our program here at Premier. this offering is for commercial use only.

While we acknowledge this was a late entry into the sale we wanted to do our bit to support getting a hard working young man who will happily do anything for anyone home.

Straws on offer will be Stud Speckle Park and Murray Grey bulls with proven progeny in their sale. Semen on offer are from bulls: Logic, Quarry, Magnus, Redemption, and Laphroig. The straws will be for commercial use only.

These straws are highly valuable and profits are going towards a notable cause - so make sure you bid in person or online at tomorrow’s sale!
