With calving all but over - planning for mating begins! This year we purchased four new two year old sire bulls. We always do our best each year to seek out new genetics to take us and our clients forward in our respective breeding programs.
First new purchase was the sale topper Dandaloo Iceman 3008. Deep, quiet and exceptional fleshing. Used as a yearling so had bounced back extremely well. Great topline and brings EBV's that will lift certain traits without compromising on phenotype.
Next up was the second top price bull at KayJay Angus. Sired by Meadowslea Mountain Man who Ratanui were the underbidders on 3yrs ago. Raw power and grunt. Great head, bone and feet - this bull will add some real punch. Excellent spread of EBV's too which is a bonus.
The third bull on the list is Turiroa Nightfall 866 (second top price bull) . Nightfall is sired by Ratanui Avenger who has put a real stamp on his progeny and were extremely well sought after.
Last but certainly not least, Lot 1 and top price at Orere Angus. This bull really caught our eye and we feel like he'll breed like smoke! Length, covered in meat, grunty head and good feet. Excited to have purchased U4 in partnership with Orere!
Great to secure the four bulls we were after and didn't have to pivot to another bull. Keep a close eye over the next few years for their progeny hitting the market!
