If you’re drinking our Pinot Noir, you’re drinking a little piece of The Wrekin.

One of the most incredible hillside vineyards in Marlborough, biodynamic, organic, and planted with love. These vines dig deep into clay-loam soils, producing fruit. Regular vineyard visits see our crop naturally reduced by ‘sampling’ the fruit on nearly every bunch. Delish.

Regional champion and Blenheim-based, Rich directs the winemaking program for The Marlborist. Rich also supports various industry groups, adding what The Marlborist can to the continued development of Marlborough as a world-class wine region.

When not topping barrels and checking tanks, Rich is out visiting the trade, hosting local tourism and international distributors to showcase our place.

Pinot Noir: delicate, expressive, and one hell of a heartbreaker.

But when it’s good? It’s magic.

2023 The Marlborist Pinot Noir is made from some of Marlborough’s finest hillside vineyards, handpicked and wild-fermented with a good dose of patience.

The result? Well, in the wise words of our good mate, Cam Douglas, who recently rated it 94 points: “An enticing complexity, varietal and youthful bouquet. Aromas of dark red berry fruits with a mix of cherry and plum as well. Layers of wood spice and a foundation earthy quality adds complexity and breadth...Polished tannins and acidity frame the earth and berry fruits, there’s tautness and some poise with plenty of length and style still developing.”

Best served with a juicy cut of venison and a crackling fire 🦌

Chardonnay. Underappreciated by some, worshipped by others.

We’re in the second camp. The Marlborist Chardonnay is rich, textural, and made with the same philosophy as a great Burgundy.

Following the recent release of our 2024 Chardonny, our good mate Cam Douglas rated it 93 points and shared his thoughts on this drop:

“A youthful example with drive and power...The wood and acidity deliver plenty of mouthfeel and tension, then the core fruit flavours offer contrast and depth. A lovely wine with cellar time needed to fuse together all the exciting highlights present.”
