Our friends Crooked Vege are doing some inspirational work, building a small veg farm in Otaki. Part of their sales model is a pay-what-you-can CSA share, enabling those with more to pay a bit more so those with a less can pay a bit less -BUT- everyone gets the same amazingly fresh and highly nutritious veg.

They are fundraising for much needed infrastructure. To help, go to:

and comment here or in your donation notes. We’re matching donations up to $550.

Jon and Tae are preparing their rented land near Otaki to start producing "pay-what-you-can" vege boxes in the spring. It's a small-scale social enterprise aimed at making healthy food more accessible to people who can least afford it.

To celebrate the beginning of the Eat, Drink, Play festival, our Head Chef Tim has created a dish inspired by the 'elements' -
Seared duck breast, confit duck thigh, cured NZ pork 'Coppa' Crespelle, Jerusalem artichoke textures, tempura battered Te Matuku oyster and oyster emulsion, with an arrangement of foraged leaves - all served up with spiced duck tea.
'Sky, Surf, Soil and Sow' will be available in Portlander from the 1st-16th of July so make sure you book in to experience this treat of a dish!

It's been a looooooooong time since we've posted anything, so it's time to catch up...

We had a brilliant summer season collaborating with Portlander restaurant. We grew lots of fun and delicious ingredients for them to use in the Birdsong Collab dish.

Here are some of the things we grew - are there any you've not tried before?
