Himmelsfeld Vineyard

Himmelsfeld Vineyard A truly boutique vineyard with European styled Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay & Cabernet Sauvignon th Amazingly unique.

Himmelsfeld Vineyard , established 1991, is in the heart of the Upper Moutere . The Story of Beth Eggers and Himmelsfeld Vineyard is a story of faith and family, history and determination, and of the bond between land and farmer which, she says, is rarely stronger than when it is formed through the grape vine. It is a story that tracks Beth back to roots sunk deep and long ago in the demanding s

oils of the Moutere area. Hans and Dora Eggers arrived from northern Germany in 1859 seeking a new life in the beautiful rolling hill country known as the Upper Moutere. From bare land to Himmelsfeld today Beth has created her labour of love with hard work and commitment to a dream of making fine wine as simply and as naturally as possible, letting the wines speak of the place they are from. With the thanks to the 100 big woolly Romney sheep which have descended from her two original pets, Grace & Hanover, who began breeding in 1994. Himmelsfeld is kept clean an green, and with their inquisitive nature they are also eager to be part of your Himmelsfeld experience. Beth looks forward to welcoming you soon at her Wine Loft at Himmelsfeld Vineyard.

OK, so the question regarding new profile photo has been..."what am I resting on across my shoulders?"
The Shepherd's crook. Also used to lift the vineyard netting prior to picking the grapes. Another aspect of the "hands on" approach here at Himmelsfeld. As the sun is setting , the evening before harvest, quite a skilled technique has evolved, in lifting the 6 metre netting from the ground and flicking it up to sit on the top of the canopy, to allow access for hand picking the next morning. This new photo, is the 2019 Chardonnay of which means walking 3 kms flicking the nets up. After the years work, seeing all that glorious fruit, as the sun sets, is beyond words.
And to rest upon the crook is also rather nice.

Himmelsfeld Moutere 2009 Sauvignon Blanc.
"Vibrant, youthful with white peach, lemon and sweet apples on the palate. Fresh with a long finish, hard to believe an aged Sauvignon Blanc tastes so fresh and so good, but it does." Cameron Douglas MS.
So don't be afraid of aged Sauvignon Blanc's, a wine well worth trying and then you will see what you have been missing out on. Available at Casa del Vino and of course the Wine Loft here at Himmelsfeld.
