Puppies for a home 🏠 we have 4 puppies from our litter- Skye our beautiful heading dog/huntaway had these puppies 8 weeks ago and they are now ready for adoption. They have been well loved by our family, crate trained, and will make amazing working dogs/family dogs. Their mum Skye is a beautiful family dog, loves to watch our free range chickens and sheep all day when she’s not working on the farm. Dad is a heading dog also. We are keeping a couple of puppies to raise and train also, so we know they will make great dogs if you have a lifestyle block or on a farm.

Puppies have been wormed and had a flea treatment this week, please dm me if you’re keen! The kids will love them and you will too! No money expected for them if you take them this week, we just want them to go to good homes!

Hāngi 💓 a traditional Maori food I grew up with and pretty much everyone who lives in Aotearoa NZ has heard about. Probably tried it at a local fundraiser! We have a permanent hāngi pit in our backyard at Ora Nui Farms and use it whenever we can! In light of Matariki this week, I thought I’d show you a wee bit of an Ora Nui Farms version of a hāngi we made… Mānawatia a Matariki ki a Koutou 💓 🌟

I can’t believe it’s only been just over a few months since we decided to focus our business on Microgreens! In case you didn’t know, 3 years ago I was a part time music teacher and full time mama to my 3 boys. My husband Kenney was a full time farmer and the practical personality in the relationship (yes I’m the dreamer!). 3 years ago I came to Kenney with the idea to become a spray-free market gardener and being the amazing man he is - he said he’d help me… Since then we have been selling our spray-free veggies locally as well as running the 250 hectare farm we manage! We started growing and selling spinach, then herbs, then salad… a year and a half ago we built our first tunnel house and started growing Microgreens. The past year has brought so many weather events to our wee town in Waihi; which, has at times meant the only plants we have been able to keep growing is our Micro babies. We tried to get our Micro’s into Woolworths a few months ago and after many meetings and phone calls, we weren’t able to make it happen (one day hopefully)… but… at the same time we had Foodstuffs accept us!!! We were over the moon because it meant we could keep growing our little spray-free business! One day we hope to own our own little farm producing spray-free veggies but for now Kenney and I are living the dream - I get to work with my best friend every day and raise our boys together - eating the best spray-free food and selling it to our beautiful customers! Here’s a glimpse of our harvest day today… it’s raw and it’s beautiful and our spray-free micros are delicious! 😋

It’s the thick of Winter where the rain and the cold say hello more often than usual… but our Microgreens farm is still growing just like they do in the summer… maybe it’s because I love to sing to My Microbabies after our local delivery day… I’ve been in the car delivering our little goodies all morning and all I want to do when I get home is have some garden & music time! But after seeing how well these babies are growing through the winter I’m wonder… does singing and sending out awhi vibes to plants promote growth? What do you think?

My kiwi bloke and me 💓 together since we were tweenagers 20 years ago! 💓 Kenney’s been farming the Aotearoa lands since he was 16 - Lover of our whenua and producing good food! He also loves to cook and as foodie as foodies come! Something not many people know about this guy is he asked me to marry him outside of New World Taumarunui when he was 13 years old! Obviously I said yes! He also has many pairs of the same outfit which include his red stubby’s through every season 🤪 I am born and raised in Taumarunui (Ngati Haua, Ngati Tuwharetoa, Ngati Maniapoto) and that’s where Kenney and I met. Before becoming a full time Microgreens grower, I was a part time music teacher, full time mama to my 3 baby boys, and lover of eating healthy food. I started this business after years of eating an entire bag of spinach every day just so I could get that daily boost of whole foods nutrition! I’ve also been a singer songwriter since I could play an instrument at 6 years old and loved all things health since I entered my adulting years. Something most people don’t know about me is I was whāngai to my Koko when I was a pepi, who was my great grandfather. Whāngai is a tradition in Māori culture where I was raised by my Koko and my mum and dad. My Koko also Whāngai my dad from birth and sadly passed away when I was 4 - but I still have the most precious memories of him 💓. My go to food is always ‘healthy, easy, and ALOT of it! I cook to feed the whanau (or the local rugby club 😉). - So this is a little about us - the local growers of the Micros you have on your plate each day! Ora Nui means ‘Great Life, Great health’ - Let’s Live Ora Nui!

Our Ora Nui Farms story has been a ever changing one through the past 3 years! But what hasn’t changed is that we are still lovers of the land ❤️ we have a dream to be selling our Spray-Free Microgreens to every store in Aotearoa NZ, but I also know we are living the dream. We live from our beautiful whenua and we get to share that with you all. Come and join us on our journey and I promise it’ll be a fun ride!
