In the heart of Waihฤซ, a new market garden is taking root, grown from a shared desire to live and work more closely with the land.
After years in the city, Project Kai founders Tom Cardno and Bonnie Hu said they both felt โ€œcalled toward a lifestyleโ€ that was kinder to the land, more connected to nature, and more self-sufficient.
Together, their goal is to provide high quality, freshly harvested, spray-free produce for the Waihฤซ and Waihฤซ Beach communities all year round.

Our first ever farmers market last Saturday at Waihi Beach ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿซœ We felt all the heartwarming support from the community! ๐Ÿ’š It made us realise how important and meaningful this project is for growing local food and bringing the community together. Thank you for everyone who stopped by, bought produce and chatted with us. See you again this Saturday ๐Ÿงบ

Our first week of trialing the temporary โ€œFarm Standโ€ idea with a chilly bin and a table. With trust of the community to have it as an honesty stand with self serve payment and product ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿซœ
The first day we only sold 2 bunches of radishes and we were a bit defeated when taking the stand homeโ€ฆ ๐Ÿฅฒ But day 2 & 3 after asking help the community absolutely pulled through! We sold out 2 days in a row WOW ๐Ÿ’š so many lovely comments and some stopping by our driveway to check out the garden ๐Ÿฅฐ
