Hi everyone,
We provide homekill processing for local farmers and hunters. This work is governed by the Ministry for Primary Industries.

One current requirement is that the person must be “the owner of the animal and have been actively involved in the day-to-day maintenance of that animal for at least 28 days.”
MPI is considering whether to keep, remove, or reduce this 28-day requirement.

MPI is also seeking feedback on other homekill rules.

Huge shout-out to Henry, our first apprentice to take part in the ANZCO Butchers Apprentice Competition for the Wellington Region. The competitors have 2 hours to do their prep and layout. Look at the feast Henry laid out! Henry won Best Use of Product for his Rum and Que Lamb Kebabs. Well done Henry, we are all proud of you!
