Have you heard of Mum Camp @ Muriwai? I have had the pleasure of attending 4 times and would love to encourage other mums to really consider this amazing weekend break away from your children. It is absolutely worth it. The food is amazing and the heart and soul that goes into the weekend from an awesome group of women is really felt in every small intricate detail. Its so special to be a part of a collective group of mums putting their needs first, learning some great things, being spoilt and making connections.

Want a bit more detail before deciding? Here is a quick itinerary -it's going to be a cracker!

ps. there won't be a Mum Camp in 2027 in case you were thinking you might wait until next year.

🌿 Here’s a little peek out our planned FarmEscape Adventures session tomorrow, so you can see what fun we get up to 🌿

🏡 Base – Hayshed / Playshed & Bamboo Paddock

🐐 Animals – Goats, lambs, cows, chickens and chicks.

🌱 Land To Table – Planting seeds to take home and look after, to bring back if they germinate and collecting bamboo leaf litter 🍃 and putting it on our FarmEscape garden beds as we build them up ready for planting.

🦆 Biodiversity – Birds! Can they spot the heron in the nest through the binoculars? What other birds can we see starting nests? There was a mother duck around with 12 ducklings - will we be lucky enough to spot her?

🪵 Nature Craft & FarmEscape Skills Tree – Sawing wooden branch discs, drilling holes, knotting string to make spinning discs or porotiti to play with. Opportunity for newbies to collect some pinecones and make tinder bundles for our fire next time on the last session of the term.

🌱Shared Kai – We have various seeds to try to eat to help open up conversations about what we’d like to plant as we progress through spring and expand our garden.

🌿 Freeplay Opportunities – Hayshed at the start of the session & mid-morning to afternoon session in the bamboo forest 🌿

We have spaces available for term 4 and would love for more children to reap the benefits of a day outside immersing in farm life and enjoying the adventures and learning that comes with that.

Today at Paddock Play Christie said "It was the first session that actually felt like winter with the wind… but it was the perfect chance to explore the hay shed after feeding the animals and enjoy a different space.
Thanks to one of the children who spotted a dead mouse in the hay as it was really interesting to be able to see up close".

Looking ahead to term 4 its great to be welcoming Katie into the FarmEscape Team. Katie and Melissa will lead 2 sessions each next term alongside Christie.

Katie lives in Waimauku with her husband and two young daughters. Formerly a primary teacher with over a decade of classroom experience, complemented by a diverse background from running a STEAM program for Years 1 to 8, to outdoor education, including junior surf and swimming coaching. Her strong belief in the benefits of play shows through her participation in local groups like Playcentre and here on the farm at Paddock Play. Whether she is camping or hiking with her family, pottering in the vege garden, or bird-spotting from a hammock with her kids, Katie brings her passion for outdoor exploration into everything she does, inspiring children to learn, grow, and connect with nature.

Our term 4 dates have been chosen to avoid a clash with the local schools Agday, junior athletics and citizenship assembly.

Enjoying a winter vege soup session at FarmEscape Adventures before the rain set in. Great to have reached 10 children now joining in on our farm adventures. We have built numbers steadily since starting this one day fortnightly session on a Friday in term 1 this year. Thanks early adopter families we appreciate your support as we grow into something sustainable and learn as we go. Good things take time.

Thanks Biodynamics New Zealand for bringing this to our local community in conjunction with Rodney Community Board and thanks for choosing Wild West Organics to host. Exciting to reach the milestone of 1000 followers!! Here's a glimpse of a morning at **Paddock Play** this week. A massive egg haul I suspect its because my children didn't do their chores the day before. Experimenting with hammers and flower printing, bug finding, a broken down tractor in the paddock, Little chicks, cheeky goats and happy cows.
