We are excited to be heading back to the South Island Wine and Food Festival again this year, held at Hagley Park, Christchurch on 7 December.

The team will be pouring our award winning wines, (hopefully) soaking up the sun and listening to some awesome kiwi music.

Waipara Hills are proud to sponsor the 5 Passes Cycle Tour, taking place this year on 22-25 November. Arguably the best cycle tour in the South Island, it is so popular it sells out every year, with a waitlist of people ready to pounce should a coveted bib become available.

Come 22 November, some 145 riders will descend on the beautiful Waipara Valley, en route from Christchurch to Hanmer Springs. This is just the first day of the tour; which sees riders venture from one side of the South Island to the other, and back again, in just 4 days!

This is an awesome event and we love showing off our beautiful region.
We wish the riders all the best for their race prep and look forward to cheering them on as they cycle through the Waipara Hills.

After a long wait, results of the New World Wine Awards for 2024 are out and we are proud to reveal that our 2023 Pinot Gris won gold, backed up by a couple of silver medals for our 2023 Sauvignon Blanc and 2022 Riesling.

We are delighted with these results, we love these wines and hope you do too!

The New Zealand International Wine Show results are out and we are delighted that our 2022 Riesling won gold, backed up by 2 silvers for our 2023 Sauvignon Blanc and 2023 Pinot Gris!

The solid results continued with admirable bronzes for our 2022 Chardonnay and 2022 Pinot Noir Rosé.

A pretty good start to awards season!

Our vines are all pruned, and while we eagerly await budburst so we can do it all over again, we are just going to share this lovely review of our 2022 Chardonnay from Master Sommelier Cameron Douglas. July weather has us cooking comfort food and reaching for Pinot Noir.

When Cameron Douglas reviewed our 2021 Pinot Noir (and gave it 91 points), he said it is best drinking from 2023 onwards, so why not grab yourself a bottle and pair it with your favourite winter meal.

Harvest update!
We are well underway here in Waipara, and so far we have bought in some Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc. The fruit looks amazing!
Shout out to our awesome team - they make sure the fruit is healthy for harvesting and ready to be turned into delicious wine at the winery!
