What colour should your egg yolks be? And why should they be that colour?
At Pasture Poultry, we let the hens choose what to eat, and forage where they roam. They have locally-grown, certified organic maize and wheat to eat.🌽🌽
They have green pastures including mixed forage crops (silver beet and rocket in the hedgerows!!), insects, bugs and seeds.
Yolk colour is determined by feed. We do not manipulate the colour of the yolk by adding colourants to their feed. Commercially prepared feeds will often have colourants for the perception of the 'rich, orange yolk'. Why? Its a choice- just like the choice we made not to use soy.

We still have the knowledge that the eggs are full of the omegas and nutrients that we need from our eggs.
