Early days in the bee industry saw the Pegram’s processing honey from a neighbouring barn until the 1

960’s when they lived the old Tinoroto School building to Russell Parade and with extensive additions and the renovations this became the frist Te Kapu Honey House. Peter and Snow raised of a family of four children with son Keith continuing the beekeeping legacy. Keith started working for his father in 1979 and by 1981 they were running 1500 hives. Keith and his wife Jo have continued to expand Te Kapu Apiaries. A new purpose-built honey house was constructed in 2013 which saw a more modern extraction plant installed. As a family business built on family values Te Kapu Apiaries employ a fulltime local staff of seven which can double during peak processing season of the Hawke’s Bay summer. Keith and Jo’s daughters, Sophie, Ruby and Ella have all been involved in the honey business with Ella recently joining the fulltime staff.
