Greetings friends, we have sold out all our potato onions!

The potato onion - Allium cepa var. aggregatum, (I am not sure why it is called a potato onion) looks like a shallot with a similar growth habit. It is a small roundish firm onion that keeps very well. We have kept ours for over 8 months and they are in a very good state.

The potato onion is a multiplier onion and is started with bulbs rather than seeds. Each planted bulb produces on an average 8-10 onions in a bunch over a period of 5- 6 months. In New Zealand it is generally planted in late Autumn and harvested at the end of the year when the leaves dry away.

I experimented this year planting a bit early last week of April and the plants have several leaves and are looking very promising.
Potato onions are used for pickling and roasting. Apparently, it caramelises well and is also used when making stews.

We have 10 packets of 15 onion bulbs each for sale. Please get in touch if you want to buy this very tasty onion.

A bit of seed saving..Dill (a family favorite).

The heavy rain warning said 5 pm, but the thunderstorm hit here two hours earlier. Had to stop garden work and run in. Check out the view... This is what my cats and I are looking out at.

Greetings all,
We are offering rooted Miscanthus x giganteus rhizomes and Bana grass cuttings bundles or rooted cuttings for sale.

Miscanthus x giganteus a sterile hybrid. I bought 10 plants from Koanga Nursery some 4 years ago, and have since used it as a wind break. I have not disturbed the patch and this will be the first time.
