Coming up to 2 weeks old. Foraging and browsing and digging a little, doing pig things.
Solid little huas.
They have just been moved from the nursery paddock where they are kept isolated from the rest to be sure they are kept safe and the mums get their good feed for good milk supply, they are now in the primary school yard with lots of open space free the run and roam.
Nothing but open paddocks, clean pasture and free to roam, no mud, no pens, the only way to grow clean meat

First litter born today for our girl Geri.
5 healthy little rebels, already play fighting and giving each other a hard time, blows me away how active they get before they're even 24 hours old.

We've been busy behind the scenes, getting thru a wet winter where we never intend to Farrow, we keep stocks to a minimum to look after the land...
Back in February we introduced our young stud boar where over the course of 3 months and made his presence be known with the girls, done is thing, then was sent off to his new farm where no doubt he will continue to plant his seed..
Some of the girls are now showing the signs that we should be expecting little running bacon seeds on the ground soon... So watch this space.
Nothing but happy pigs surrounded by green pasture, no mud, no holes, well maybe the odd purpose built hole we make for them to wallow in... Constantly rotated and always free to graze, producing the cleanest tastiest pork..

We believe in respecting the animal from the very beginning, although their life may be short, we want their life to be happy and free from stress from day 1.
Free to roam, good pasture, good food, shelter and water makes for a happy, tasty pig .

Sampled the first of the Aka Aka Pasture pig over the weekend.
2 young boars, almost 12 weeks old, weaned for 4 weeks living off a clean whole food diet and lots of pasture, free to roam.
Fat content was perfect, removal of hair was easy, and the crackle was 👌
Approx 25 kgs at 12 weeks we think is a very healthy heavy weight for a pasture pig...
