Who has brassica that was planted too late to be big enough to eat over winter, so now you are watching them closely to make sure they dont go to flower? They often go to flower/seed in spring down south because of the increase in light levels. You can increase your chances of getting them to an edible size, by chucking some shade cloth over the top to reduce the amount of light they are getting. Start with a light shade cloth and double it up in a few weeks time. This works well for all those things that like to go to seed quickly in summer due to our super long days too like corriander, rocket, spinach, lettuce etc. Light levels affect our gardens hugely down South.
