Bernie's Bakery Timaru/May's Bakery Timaru Bakery Bernie's Bakery HQ started operating in September 2014 with a retail shop opening soon after in early December 2014.

Bernie's Bakery is a brilliant homestyle bakery and is the new HQ for May's Bakery (Timaru), McGregor's Bakery (Palmerston), The Berry Barn Bakery (Geraldine), and KB's Bakeries (Christchurch). Our great range of products, including the famous McGregor's mutton pie and May's mince pie (both been around for over 100years each!!!), as well as a variety of cakes, slices, biscuits, and artisan breads

are all made onsite at 187 Hilton Highway Washdyke. The shop looks straight into the heart of the bakehouse, with hot racks of over 700 pies, muffins and biscuits coming out of the oven just meters away from the front counter throughout the day. May's Bakery is a well known and loved bakery in the Timaru area. It was first established in
1914 by Scottish Baker Alex & Ethel May
in Pleasant Point. May's Bakery then
shifted to High Street in Timaru in the late
1920's followed by a final move to its
current location on Timaru's main street. The May's pies are made to a traditional scottish
recipe of a scalded dough, which gives it it's
unique flavour and look, that is known all
around New Zealand.
