Before Vinho Verde was known for crisp, refreshing white wines, this iconic Portuguese wine region was known for producing elegant red wines.

2024 'Pardusco' from Anselmo Mendes is one one of the best modern expressions of these "Mature wines of Monção".

Made from three indigenous varieties, Pardusco is pale to the eye with aromas and flavours of ripe red berries, savouriness and spice.

Sitting on your list next to reds from Jura, Sicily, Loire Valley & Beaujolais, Pardusco is best enjoyed with charcuterie, cheese, chicken breast or prawns... or simply under the Kiwi sun!

Beyond Provence & Pinot Noir....

Diversify your pink drink section this Kiwi spring and summer with the delicious 2024 Rosado from Bodegas Abeica.

Made in Abalos, north of Rioja's Ebro river, Rosado is made from 50 year old organic bush vines.

It's 80% Garnacha (aka Grenache, key in Provencal Rosé), with the remainder being Viura and Tempranillo. The three let grapes of Rioja, which happen to make excellent rosé:

Dry, minéral and fresh;
Complex and concentrated fruit character;
Great mouth feel and no sweetness.

Rosado is great by the glass as an aperitif in the sun or with a range of dishes.
