My first visit to contra_welly this morning and I declare the Avocado delicious.
The service was outstanding, I was there for a Cancer Society Greater Wellington fundraiser via work.
There were 20 plus of us and the drinks and food arrived with no chaos. It was very impressive and part of our cost was donated.
I need to go back for the pancakes

We went back with friends and our daughter. Absolutely delicious roast again at The Featherston .

Warning.... a marital spat may have happened when one of our party claimed the Yorkshires the best and the other half produced photos of his best Yorkshires ever.

This weekend we created ourselves a WOAP burger issue.

Over the weekend we have had both the Bellbird Eatery’s Lamb-Da Rassa Pao and Sushil Musclechef Cafe’s The Street Whisper.

Both were outstanding and very different. We have tried to decide which was our favourite. A full on conversation was had about which one we would eat if they were put in front of us. The closest we could get was to cut them in half and share. Not really an answer.

I can give you my thoughts but can only advise that you do all you can to eat both, if you haven’t yet.

Lamb-Da Rassa Pao.

Lamb at its finest. Both the burger and the pulled meat were delicious. Both sauces were perfect. Everything on the plate worked. This burger is a full meal and would work on a plate out of the bun.

The Street Whisper.

Zing! I am a big fan of Manchurian sauce and the Indo-Chinese flavours. This burger worked and was full of texture and flavour. The chicken was so very good and cooked perfectly.

Both these entries have a story and have been carefully constructed to work.

10/10 for both.

GO ON...TRY IT!
Oak & Vine Wellington
Visa Wellington On a Plate
9/10

This is what WOAP was originally about, going somewhere different and not really knowing what you are going to get.

We we seriously impressed with the flavours and the balance of ingredients. The chips were great too. We loved the beef and will have a go at making the dish at some point.

The only reason it is not a 10 is because the coriander should have been chopped and we needed to flip it. Nothing major!

We both agreed that we would come back for the burger if it stayed on the menu, that's a big compliment

Hey Coastie Waikanae- worth the drive 10/10.

My first burger this year. We decided to head up the coast rather than the city for our annual burger catch up.

I chose carefully and liked the sound of the Birria on the Beach. I'm also a sucker for poppers.

It was a fab choice, full of flavour with the clever crunch of the corn tortilla. All the flours were there and perfectly in sync.

I like to cut my burger in half, it was easy to cut and this made it easier to dunk in the birra sauce.

It also held itself together when eaten as served.

All up, delicious and felt like a meal

Back again at

That man and his hands in my pics!

We haven't been for a while and I love getting 3 kofta balls and a good dose of garlic from my upgraded naan.

My malai kofta, pimped naan served with rice and Mr had chicken bhuna with a plain naan and rice came in at $33. It is easily enough to count as a main meal.

Come on people, eat lunch here and then do your weekly shop at the lovely

Oh and to add a random suggestion for the owner, Ngon! Mount Vic!

I'm late to the party.... I had my first iced bear latte and loved it.

I work with the best people and we love to do a fun Friday involving coffee.

We met friends at in Greytown. Wow! What an excellent spot. I'm not often blown away by cafe/bakeries, this time I was.

The staff were so busy, the queue moved quickly, the area was kept impressively clean. The food and coffee were great. I loved my scone.

A stunning spot and you need to get there soon.

The last time I went to was a long time ago.

We've been walking past for a years and after seeing a couple of posts, we decided to go.

I'm so pleased we did. We had the loveliest welcome and the food was excellent.

I see many fried rice sticks in my future. My main was the Shanghai Style Tofu and delicious. An evening visit will be planned too.

Wellington...we have poutine. so the best poutine in Welly. The gravy is thick, the curds are proper and plentiful.
