Ceylon 85 !! Where have you been all my life? Sri Lankan cuisine is yummy. Service here is top notch ! B**r is cold. Price is very fair. If in doubt go to buffet at night time. The Big One. Oamaru’s chosen bakery of the bogan and the under 30. The spot they stop at on the way to the meat works after a Oamaru bender ! Now am I comparing Oamaru bakeries to Timaru? No way outright loss.
Pork Belly Pie, Lamb Pie (woolly something), caramel crumble slice.
Pastry is nice here, soft not to dry. Bottoms soft. Other than the highest price in Oamaru my next pet peeve is adding things to fill out pies without being in the title. If I buy a pork belly pie, it should be the main ingredient. Apple was . The lamb pie had right amount of mint, not too much but more vege than anything. Don’t get me wrong, a slight title change and primo. Both pies were tasty. I see why it’s popular. Slice was on point. Coming back for the big steak and cheese off to compare Oamaru and Timaru Steak n Cheese Pies in-depth. Pork Pie 6.5/10. (Price high, large amounts of apple, gravy average) Wooly lamb pie 8/10 good chunks of lamb, perfect balance, lost two points due to excess vege, price and size. Good job Delectables !! Slice 9/10. Yummy. Size as good as I have come across!!! Service good

Is this how coffees are in the bigger centres? This is a regular flat white from Coffee Cube in Wigram, Christchurch. It didn’t take me long to drink !! Just a question ??

Have hit 500 followers . WTF. Bogan out !!!! Have ordered Couplands Bakery voucher to give away. Good thing is this can go nationwide. Workplace shout, Saturday donuts for the kids, yum pies. You think it, Coupland can deliver it. Like, tag a friend, share and your into win !!! Will close it at 6pm Friday.

Timaru . If you are in Timaru you need to go to U-Bake Bakery. I have been there and will be my last review here for a while as it is good . I finally got to try the Steak cheese and jalapeño pie and the Lamb and Kūmara. These are big pies, the last photo shows comparison between them and regular bakeries. $16.40 for two pies.
Steak Cheese and Jalapeño wasn’t as spicy as expected. Had heaps of jalapeño in it so if your tolerance is mid then this is a good option. Large pieces of beef. It is a very decent pie. 8.510
Lamb and kūmara pie. 8.0/10. What I liked about this was kūmara was listed in the title. Many bakeries use veggies to bulk out mixture but don’t inform you when you purchase. It annoys me but I knew what I was getting and it delivered. Big pies. I do need to get into their breads though !!!!! Service is very pleasant here every time

Just a wee review this time. Nothing dramatic. Last week I had the privilege of driving though Ashburton. Privilege? Maybe not. I am yet to find a pie in Ashburton that I enjoy. Sim’s Bakery was my stop. Now a back story. I eat a lot of pies. My dairy/convenience store go to is a Sim’s or Kai Pie. I was hoping for a Steak Cheese and Jalapeño but a big no go must be too popular. Steak n Cheese and Pork Belly it was. TBH tasted better from local dairy and a buck cheaper. Pork belly tasted as described. 6/10 as service was good, 2 pies for $13.50. building nice and pies ok. I do go to my local dairy when I get a v and get a sims pie for $5.50. They taste just as good.
