Today is a really hard day for me.
I’ve made the decision to close Charles Street Takeaway and begin the process of liquidation, effective immediately.

This business has been more than just work — it’s been something I poured my time, energy, and heart into. It’s been a big part of my life, and letting it go isn’t easy.

To every single person who supported me — whether you purchased from me, shared my business, or even just followed along — thank you. You helped make this dream real, and I’ll always be grateful for that.
While this isn’t the ending I hoped for, I’m still proud of what I built and everything I learned along the way.
Right now, I’m taking things one step at a time and focusing on what comes next.

For some it’s Valentine’s Day.
For us here in Hawke's Bay, it’s three years since Cyclone Gabrielle.

Today we remember the heartbreak — but also the strength, the neighbours helping neighbours, and the incredible resilience of our community.

With the weather this weekend, it’s okay if things feel a little heavy. We get it.
Our little fish and chip shop isn’t just about dinner. It’s about friendly faces, quick chats while you wait, kids choosing their favourite treat, and bumping into someone you haven’t seen in ages.

If you need a warm feed, a familiar smile, or just a yarn — we’re here. Always. 🤍

And oh… by the way…
She probably does want those flowers she says she doesn’t need.
