Happy to announce that I've just donated $100 raised through the sale of my soaps to the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust
Thank you for supporting an important cause!! There are approximately 163 breeding pairs of hoiho as of data from 2024, such a low number... They will be lost forever unless more is done to support their conservation.

I'll be taking a break from the business for a while as we are welcoming a new addition to our family in August - a baby boy!

Hoping to jump back onboard the Southland Central Trade Loop sometime next year, have greatly enjoyed working on it this year and excited for it restart in spring :)

Off to spend an hour outside in the winter sunshine to do my NZ bird survey https://gardenbirdsurvey.nz/ Not a bad way to spend some time outside in nature and it helps gather information for NZ conservation efforts, perhaps give it a try?

Definitely relevant to the support I give to NZ wildlife. Without responsibility managed conservation areas, our at risk creatures will lose precious habitat crucial to their survival. Please have a read and make a quick submission against this bill which will turn our natural areas into yet another commodity for greedy people to exploit.

Happy about what we've created with this community project! Sad that it's almost over but we'll be back in spring with a more solid plan and weekly shop opening and deliveries.

WALLACETOWN TRADING POST
We've been having lots of interest from your corner of the loop, but we still need a bit of help to put Wallacetown on our map.

Unfortunately without a trading post there has been no way to service customers in Wallacetown and I'd love for this to change. We sell locally grown veges, home baking, free range eggs, handmade soaps & cosmetics, seedlings, cuttings and more :)

We are needing:
- a location for produce and goods to be dropped off and picked up from (could be a local shop, hall/church, someone's house, existing roadside stall...)
- some volunteer hours on a Tuesday

WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO?

We started this as two ladies with a passion for local food and, to be honest, not much more than hard work! I can definitely say we are proud to see this trade loop come to life.

It’s been very rewarding to see what works and what doesn’t and tinker with our idea until it feels good for our volunteers, small businesses/growers and customers alike. Love you guys for all your patience, support and feedback!

Below are some lessons we have learnt so far BUT this is for the community so we really want to hear:
