💰 ARE YOU COMPARING APPLES WITH APPLES?
We get challenged on pricing quite a lot in store, as most butchers do, and one thing we always say is, check the weight before you compare the price.
It’s very easy to see mince advertised at $6.99 and think, wow, that’s cheap! But if that pack is only 250g, you’re actually paying nearly $28 per kg.
Most butcher packs, including ours, are around 500g. Our Prime Beef Mince is $12.50 for 500g, so $25 per kg.
The same applies to steaks. Anyone can advertise a steak for $6.99 if it’s cut thin enough. We could too! If you want thinner steaks, we’ll happily cut them that way for you, but the price of one steak doesn’t tell you whether you’re getting good value.
So when you’re comparing meat prices, look at two things:
🥩 The quality of the meat
⚖️ The price per kg
There will always be specials and promotions around, including ours, but the kg price is what allows you to properly compare apples with apples.
Don’t get distracted by the price on the pack. Check how much meat you’re actually getting for your money. 👌
