What a morning 🤎

We recently changed the music in store from radio to our own spotify playlists, a speaker away from the counter and a mix of 'The Country House' kind of tunes.

The difference is huge.

Some people have noticed, some have sung along or even danced a little. Most probably haven’t - but without a doubt it has chaged the energy in store. It's not everyones taste and it may not seem important when actually most of us just want to get some groceries. But the little things add up; the intention of offering a modern take on an old-school shop where the style and service is all part of experience.

All the subtleties, behind the scenes and front of house, do make a difference and we love seeing more and more customers enjoy it.

Keeping it simple.

Which doesn't mean less in any way! The Country House is all about quality, balance, taste and seasons - whether it's food or homestyle - and simplicity is often best.

Midweek lunch today was Grizzly Midnight Rye, toasted, buttered topped with tasty cheddar and a little 'House of Dumplings' chilli crunch.

Tomorrow is a full day, fresh Grizzly in as always at 9am, the meat fridge is full, fresh produce a plenty and The Country House Florist has a new delivery in.

We (often) hear of the convenience of one stop shopping - and while we all know that at times it takes priority, isn't it so much better to enjoy the benefit of local, independent shops?

We hope we bring a little charm, a friendly service above and beyond the obligatory "how are you" and genuine care for the products we supply and the people we meet along the way.

The (small) team here work hard to keep things tip top and it shows. The tunes are playing, the Grizzly bread smells amazing, the produce - fresh and pantry based, is great, the meat fridge is full with some more new options and best of all the sun is shining!

Blue skies! We did need the rain but we will always be happy to have sunny mornings.

Sundays - getting ready for the week ahead and a little R and R. The Veg Boxes are here ready to pick up if you want a quick shop option - pick your choice of any 3 greens to add to the pre-boxed root veges and pumpkin. Just add some meat from the fridge and dinner is sorted!

As our first customer this morning pointed out morning .... she didn't expect to find donuts in here!

So a little reminder about what we do ....

The Country House Greengrocer's has the fruit and veg you'd expect, additional pantry staples and essential dairy, meats and breads. Plus donuts at the weekend!!

The Florist, is based here too - every day flowers, bouquets to order, small celebrations and funerals all part of the service. Country style, specialising in eco friendly mechanics.

The intention is to grow a brand, add some homewares and expand in to Country House Furniture. It's a process.

But for now, everyday staples, pantry indulgences, fruit and veg, mostly NZ grown, with the emphasis on seasonality and quality.
