On Friday 26 June, we launched two important milestones for our business – our rooftop solar power system and a new warehouse facility at our Lae Brewery, Morobe province.
Lae is home to our second – and largest- brewery where we proudly employ 119 skilled, dedicated and proud staff. The brewery has always played an instrumental role in our operations and growth in Morobe Province, the Highlands beyond and New Guinea Islands due to its strategic location.
The completion of these two projects represents a K8 Million investment in our Lae brewery, and this is strong and clear demonstration of our long-term commitment to Morobe Province and its people.
The rooftop solar power system also highlights our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. SP Brewery is part of the HEINEKEN Company and as such are committed to the Global HEINEKEN 2030 Net-Zero Targets in Production.
Our Lae brewery relies heavily on fossil-fueled based electrical power generation due to limitations in grid reliability. Recognizing the global and local impacts of climate change, we are taking proactive steps to reduce carbon footprint and improve energy efficiency.
This investment reflects our responsibility as a corporate citizen to contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.
We would like to acknowledge the essential support of Energy and Power Ltd in the realization of the this milestone.
We also opened our new warehouse facility, marking a major step in strengthening our operational capacity. The new warehouse will enhance our ability to serve our customers more efficiently. Improves storage capacity, strengthens our distribution network and ensures we continue to meet growing demand across the region.
By improving our distribution and supply chain, we can better support businesses that rely on our products – from wholesalers and retailers to transport providers and logistics partners. Many of whom are SMEs and by strengthening our operations, we help stimulate trade, create opportunities and drive economic activity within Morobe province.
These two milestones represent more than just infrastructure and technology. It represents partnerships, progress and long-term commitment.
From humble beginnings in 1952 to today, SP Brewery has remained committed to Papua New Guinea’s development – and we will continue to stand alongside Government, communities and our partners in building a stronger future.
Thank you to everyone who has played a role in making this possible – our employees, suppliers and partners, stakeholders and the community.
