Simple addition of healthy and nutritious greens to meals makes a big difference.

Mindfully balancing food with greens to feel better. More energy, lighter stomach, less worries about what to eat.

One of the choices to what can be added is alfalfa sprouts which is among other varieties of greens/microgreens that are grown in the farm.

Just toss them into meals like omelette in the morning, mix them into my salad, drop them into a bowl of soup or any other meal. No complicated cooking. Just fresh, clean greens that make everyday food healthier without the extra effort.

No chemicals, just good food the way it should be. It takes 5 days to grow alfalfa sprouts. In fact, it is a regular offering every Monday in the farm’s Suki Market. Delivery options are available together with other items and fresh goodies.

Hosted the Director and various staff of the Lasallian Community Development Center from DLSU Dasmariñas here at Luntiang Republika.

They came for a benchmarking visit including an orientation of what we do and how we do it. Walked them through the farm, answered their questions, and had some meaningful conversations.

The presentation centered on three things we truly believe in: Environmental Stewardship — caring for the land, protecting biodiversity, and farming in ways that work with nature, not against it. Social Involvement — building genuine relationships with communities, making sure that what we do here creates real value for the people around us. Economic Viability — because good intentions alone will not sustain a mission. We shared how we’ve worked to make the farm financially sound so it can continue serving its purpose for the long haul.

Sustainability is not just a buzzword. It is really the balance of all and we are still learning every day.

It was inspiring to engage with the LCDC team. Their work for community development and their openness to explore new models gave us energy too. We hope the visit sparked ideas they can bring back and adapt in their own context.

Always happy to share what we know and learn from others in return. That is how we move forward.

One of our goals at Luntiang Republika has always been to involve the community — not merely as workers, but as partners as well. Real involvement means work opportunities, new skills, and fair income for the people around us.

Joan is a good example of how this looks in practice. She initially came to us as a laundrywoman (a very good one at that) more than 10 years ago. Reliable, hardworking, and quietly observant. Over time she started paying attention to what else was happening on the farm — the microgreens, the bottling, the processing. She asked questions. She stayed curious but understandably lacked the confidence so we brought her in closer.

Now she plants and tends the microgreens and helps process the bottled products — among them are our ginataang laing, bangus cutlets in olive oil and bottled sinaing na tulingan. She now knows the process with a little guidance , she respects the ingredients, and she takes ownership of what she does.

The laundry is still part of her weekly task but it has since become just a part of who she has become here. This is exactly the kind of arrangement the farm hoped for when we thought about social involvement — mutually beneficial, grounded, and sustainable. They gain skills and steady work. We gain capable, committed people who care about what we produce.

The farm makes it a point that mothers do not have to choose between work and their children. If the kids need to come along, they come. A little one playing nearby has never gotten in the way of good work.

Joan is one of the men and women from the community who have found their place here. Each one started somewhere small and has grown into something larger.

This the kind of farm working the way we always hoped it would.

Salingogon (Cratoxylum formosum) is in full bloom at Luntiang Republika.

This Philippine native tree is often compared to Japan’s cherry blossoms — and for good reason. The clusters of soft pink flowers covering the branches are simply stunning. Even the sight of fallen flowers carpeting the garden chairs is a sight to behold.

The Salingogon blooms during the dry or summer season, and the flowers last for about two to three weeks. This ornamental tree is one of the reasons why native trees are planted in the farm. More will be definitely planted at the onset of the wet season along the access road.

The camera recording is incomparable to when you see them in actual. Come see it for yourself.

Something satisfying about knowing exactly where your food comes from. The eggs are rich, golden, and full of flavor. The combination of the curly kale microgreens which is packed with nutrients and just the right amount of earthy goodness makes it a good complement to the eggs.

A batch of black garlic. Prepared fresh garlic and slowly fermented it under carefully controlled heat and humidity for 244 hours at around 77 C using a fermenter until each clove turns deep black, chewy, and sweet — with that distinct hint of tamarind and molasses.

No additives, no shortcuts, just time and patience. What makes it worth the wait is what happens inside: antioxidants multiply, producing a compound linked to heart health, lower blood pressure, better blood sugar, and reduced inflammation. It surges to levels raw garlic simply cannot match.

Good addition to soups and salads or chewed as is.

Conclusion of the 240 hours of the on the job training (OJT) of four BS Agribusiness students from the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) at Luntiang Republika . The immersive stay was from March 13 to April 15 covering all aspects of our farm business ranging from farm tourism, value adding, marketing including crops and livestock production.

Time indeed flies. Today these young students presented their valuable observations and corresponding recommendations on how the farm can improve the operations and systems based on what they experienced.

It was well worth having them and hopefully the farm exposure and the mentoring has somehow prepared them as they transition to the actual workplace.

Luntiang Republika delivered a lecture and hands-on session on entrepreneurship and microgreens growing for the 4H Club and staff of the San Pablo City Agriculture Office, an event organized by the City Agriculture Office. Also present were on-the-job trainees from Laguna State Polytechnic University.

The event underscored the potential of microgreens as a viable and profitable product for aspiring entrepreneurs. Microgreens require minimal space, low startup capital, and a short growing cycle — making them an ideal commodity for small-scale and urban-based enterprises. Participants were encouraged to explore microgreens not only as a source of nutritious food but also as a sustainable livelihood opportunity with growing market demand.

The session also highlighted the health benefits of microgreens, which are known to be rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Luntiang Republika supplied all the materials for the participants’ microgreens project, including growing cabinets, growing trays, growing medium, and seeds.

Luntiang Republika is grateful for the opportunity to share knowledge and support the community in discovering practical and sustainable pathways toward food security and entrepreneurship.

Luntiang Republika harvested a small batch of peppercorns today. The mature peppercorns were all handpicked from the vines today.

After harvesting, they will be sun-dried for several days the traditional way, then store them in clean containers to preserve all their natural goodness. Looking forward to gathering even more from the vines planted where the ducks freely range.

Peppercorns are one of nature’s most remarkable spices. They add bold, complex heat and depth to almost any dish — from hearty soups and slow-cooked roasts to fresh marinades and even some surprising desserts. Freshly cracked peppercorns that are free from additives and preservatives takes even the simplest meal to a new level.

Beyond flavor, peppercorns also pack an impressive list of health benefits. They are rich in piperine, a powerful antioxidant that gives pepper its characteristic heat, and they are known to support healthy digestion and gut function. Piperine also significantly enhances the absorption of nutrients — most famously turmeric — making peppercorn a true wellness powerhouse. On top of that, peppercorns have natural anti-inflammatory properties and may even help give metabolism a gentle boost.

The vanilla orchids are flowering once again. Now entering the 3rd season of vanilla fruiting — and it’s looking more promising than ever, with noticeably more blooms compared to previous seasons. Hand pollination has also begun this month.

Just finished processing the beans from the previous batch. The protocol remains largely the same, with one refinement — a dehydrator was utilized this time for greater consistency, running at a gentle 35°C, with each bean carefully inspected every single day.

Meanwhile, the extracts from the first batch are quietly aging for a minimum of one year before they are finally ready to use.

It is a long, meticulous, and deeply intentional process — but without a doubt, it will be worth every moment of the wait.
