📚 “Academic publishing is vital in the age of AI”, Mandy Hill told MPs at a reception in UK Parliament this week.

As president of the The Publishers Association and managing director of Cambridge University Press, Mandy spoke about the value of as a driver of economic growth and the need for legislation of companies over content use.

Academic publishing, she argued, has a vital role in the UK’s world-class higher education and research ecosystem. “Beyond the numbers, publishing matters. We need critical thinkers, informed readers and responsible guardians of knowledge and truth.”

Professor Mike-Berners-Lee, Cambridge author of ‘There is No Planet B’ and ‘A Climate of Truth’, argued books “bridge the gap between academia and the public”. “In this age when there is so much out there of varying quality, a good book has much to offer.”
