Kimchilog was never just about food.
It was never even about the money.
It has always been about the people.
It started during the pandemic,
nung lahat tayo nakakulong sa bahay at naghahanap ng matatakbuhan na malapit, safe, at pwede mong tambayan.
It became a place where artists would just hang around,
doing nothing to everything.
Ideas were born.
Relationships were honed.
Random gigs would happen from time to time.
Music, artworks, spontaneous creativity.
Isang lugar kung saan pwedeng mag-ayos ng bike, motor, kahit kotse pa minsan.
We were just there, eating Kimchilog and drinking Signature Cream from Lokal Muna Coffee,
creating, existing, and being together.
It became a space for artists who lost their jobs during the pandemic.
A pahingahan for people coming home from work.
A craving spot for pregnant women during lockdown.
A dating place for some.
More than anything, it became a safe space.
A community.
And these past few days reminded me of that.
Hindi lang dahil sa benta, kundi dahil sa inyo.
“Namiss ko to. Ngayon lang ulit ako nakahinga after so long.”
"Para nanaman tayong nasa sitcom."
" Kuya MAAAAAATTTTTT."
" Kanino nanaman bang panaginip to bat ang daming nangyayari?!"
" Bango ng kimchi rice!"
Thank you to everyone who came back.
To those who stayed.
To those who never stopped messaging our page. Lalo na sa mga sumusugod pa sa bahay kahit di tayo magkakakilala personally. 😭
You didn’t just support a small food spot.
You kept a community alive.
