TALLOW DAY!

Tallow is a hard fatty substance made from rendered animal fat. In this case, I'm using beef trimmings. Aside from this being used in candles and soap products, its commonly used as a replacement for conventional oil or butter when cooking.

Just as any fat, always use in moderation.

Any recipe ideas for the crunchy leftovers once its all rendered down? Post them here!

If you like Jollibee burger steak, I've got your upgrade right here!

There's a hack to getting a better quality beef patty at a lower price (like the post, send me a PM and I'll tell you how).

Season them as you'd like, pop them in the pan or air fryer till done and set aside.

Cook some basic canned mushrooms in that oil, set aside.

Save any oil rendered from the patty cooking, add a little butter and flour and make your roux mix. Add salt, pepper, part of a beef cube, and some water and thats your easy gravy. Go fancy with a little A1, Worcestershire sauce or just Maggi/ Knorr liquid seasoning if you have it on hand. If you're a cream of mushroom lover, add just a little, the taste will change.

Add your patties back into the gravy or just pour on top if you prefer.

Cut n blanch your veg, then quickly stir fry with garlic and a touch of butter.

Thats Jollibee burger steak leveled up! Great for the family!

PIZZA DAY!

Trying pizza offerings by thehazyoven, who also specialize in sweet baked goods. They offer both freshly baked and frozen options of their products, and since they're in Manila, I went with frozen.

I'm usually quite picky about the quality of products that are flash frozen, so I was very pleased that the vibrancy, texture and taste maintained their integrity and the cooked product was as perfect as if it were made that same day. Vids and pictures speak for themselves.

PINIKPIKAN

Baguio residents will know this location well. A great place for your pinikpikan needs.

Since I live alone, I'm glad to get a meaty quarter leg or 2 for my soup. Not only a rainy day, but an all year round Cordillieran special!

I also appreciate that they torch their pork meat before chopping, brings out an extra flavor that you wouldn't find otherwise.
