UMILI joins the Benchmarking Activity in Nueva Ecija last September 8-11, 2026, together with the Taiwan Technical Mission Project in the Philippines .
Umili was able to explore valuable practices in postharvest management, product development, food processing, commercialization, and enterprise strengthening.
We visited the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech), where we learned about the production and processing of High Value Crops, as well as solar-powered agricultural machinery and technologies.
Followed by a visit to Central Luzon State University (CLSU), where they explored the Research and Innovation Center, gained insights into innovative agricultural and food technologies, and learned about Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety requirements toward HACCP registration. We also had the opportunity to try CLSU’s innovative tilapia ice cream, showcasing how agricultural products can be transformed into unique value-added products. 🍦🐟
The benchmarking concluded at AJEE Foods, an FDA-certified food company, where we gained hands-on experience in garlic processing and value addition. We learned how to prepare garlic chips, pickled garlic, pickled garlic with apple c***r vinegar, mushroom chili garlic, and chili garlic oil, while gaining valuable insights into proper food processing, safety, and product development. 🧄🌶️
Our sincere appreciation to PhilMech, CLSU, and AJEE Foods for welcoming the team and sharing their knowledge and expertise.
Special thanks to Taiwan Technical Mission for making the benchmarking activity possible, it provided us a practical knowledge and inspiration to explore new opportunities.
Together, we learn, innovate, and create greater opportunities for our garlic farmers and entrepreneurs. 🧄🌱
**Garlic farmers is our mission, value adding is our vision.**
