SWIFT PNP OPERATION HITS ILLEGAL FISHING IN PAGADIAN, SEIZES PHP 2.75M BOAT AND EQUIPMENT

In a strong move to protect the country’s marine resources and the livelihoods of law-abiding fishermen, the Philippine National Police (PNP) successfully apprehended an individual involved in illegal fishing during a joint seaborne operation in the coastal waters of Brgy. San Pedro, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur on February 7, 2026.

The operation, conducted by personnel from the Pagadian City Police Station in coordination with the Zamboanga del Sur (ZDS) Maritime Police Station, resulted in the confiscation of a Bagnet fishing boat locally known as “Tapay-Tapay,” painted white and blue, along with an Isuzu 6VG engine with a defaced serial number, and various fishing paraphernalia.

The combined value of the seized vessel and equipment is estimated at approximately PHP 2,750,000.00. The apprehended individual and all confiscated items are now in the custody of ZDS MARPSTA for proper legal disposition.

Chief PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., emphasized that the operation is part of the PNP’s broader commitment to safeguard the country’s waters and ensure compliance with the law.

“Illegal fishing is not just a violation of the law; it directly affects the livelihoods of honest fishermen and the sustainability of our marine resources. Hindi natin hahayaan na abusuhin ang ating karagatan,” PGen Nartatez Jr. said. “The PNP will continue to act decisively, swiftly, and fairly to protect our people and the nation’s resources.”

This successful operation demonstrates the strengthened coordination between police and maritime units in monitoring and patrolling coastal areas. The PNP urges coastal communities to report any suspicious activity at sea to help prevent further illegal operations and protect the rights of legitimate fishermen.

PNP SEIZES 4 ILLEGAL FI****MS, GR***DE; SUSPECT ARRESTED IN IFUGAO

Authorities in Ifugao successfully apprehended a male suspect in possession of illegal fi****ms and an explosive device on Wednesday, reinforcing the PNP’s commitment to public safety and law enforcement.

Under the leadership of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Ifugao Provincial Field Unit, together with territorial police units, executed a search warrant on February 4, 2026, in Brgy. Sanafe, Lamut, Ifugao, resulting in the arrest of a local male resident and the confiscation of two 12-gauge shotguns, one caliber .45 pistol, one caliber .38 revolver, one M203 gr***de, assorted magazines, and rounds of ammunition.

“Possession of illegal fi****ms and explosives is a serious threat to our communities. We will enforce the law to the fullest and hold all violators accountable,” PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said. “Ang sinumang lalabag sa batas sa pamamagitan ng iligal na armas at pampasabog ay haharap sa buong bigat ng batas—walang palusot, walang paligoy-ligoy.”

The arrested male, of legal age and residing in Brgy. Sanafe, Lamut, was found to possess and control the fi****ms and gr***de without the necessary permits or licenses, rendering the items illegal under Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Fi****ms and Ammunition Regulation Act). The success of this operation highlights the diligence of the CIDG Ifugao Provincial Field Unit and the Regional Chief of CIDG- Cordillera Administrative Region.

Aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda—a strategic framework for transforming police service to be responsive and accountable—the operation demonstrates the relevance of Enhanced Managing Police Operations in ensuring unlawful possession of fi****ms is detected and addressed promptly, safeguarding the community.

PNP ARRESTS BICOL’S TOP MOST WANTED IN 26 R**E CASES

A top-ranked fugitive in the Bicol Region, wanted for multiple heinous crimes, is now behind bars following a coordinated law enforcement operation.

Under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., the operation highlights the PNP’s unwavering commitment to protect the public and uphold the law.

At 8:09 PM on February 4, 2026, officers from Juban Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the Provincial Highway Patrol Team(PHPT) Sorsogon under the Target Intelligence Packet, arrested a 48-year-old male suspect in Brgy. Sabang, Naic, Cavite. The arrest was carried out through a Warrant of Arrest for Qualified R**e covering 26 criminal cases (Criminal Case Nos. 2026-13968P to 2026-13993P), issued by the Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court, Fifth Judicial Region, Branch 51, Sorsogon City, dated January 19, 2026, with no bail recommended. The suspect is now under custody at Juban MPS for booking and proper disposition.

“No one is beyond the reach of the law. Hindi kami titigil hangga’t hindi napapanagot ang mga lumalabag sa batas,” said PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., emphasizing the PNP’s determination to ensure public safety and justice.

TULAY NG MALASAKIT: PULIS TUMULONG SA PAGTAYO NG BAMBOO BRIDGE PARA SA KOMUNIDAD

Nagpakita ng tunay na malasakit at serbisyo ang Police Regional Office 5 (PRO 5) nang itayo nila ang bamboo bridge sa Barangay Baao, Baleno, Masbate, sa pamamagitan ng Revitalized-Pulis sa Barangay Team Baao ng Masbate PPO 1st PMFC.

Layunin ng tulay na ito na magbigay ng ligtas, matibay, at maaasahang daanan sa mga estudyante, magsasaka, at residente na araw-araw dumaraan sa lugar. Bago pa man magsimula ang konstruksyon, nagtipon ng bamboo ang mga pulis kasama ang lokal na komunidad—isang malinaw na halimbawa ng bayanihan at pagkakaisa.

“Ang tunay na serbisyo ay hindi lang nakikita sa pagpapatupad ng batas, kundi sa mga konkretong hakbang na direktang nakakatulong sa araw-araw na buhay ng ating mga kababayan. Ang tulay na ito ay patunay ng ating malasakit at pagtutulungan,” sabi ni Chief PNP, PGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.
