Dragon Fruit Facts That You Should Know!

Cracking in dragon fruit is a common issue and usually caused by:

1. 🚿 Sudden Excessive Watering or Rainfall
After a dry spell, if the plant suddenly receives a lot of water, the fruit absorbs it rapidly, causing the inner pulp to expand faster than the skin can stretch—leading to cracks.
Very common during rainy season in the Philippines or if irrigation isn’t regulated.

2. 🌡️ Extreme Temperature Fluctuations
High heat during the day and cool nights can cause expansion and contraction stress on the fruit skin.

3. 🥀 Overripe Fruit
If left too long on the plant, ripe fruit becomes more prone to cracking.

4. 🌱 Calcium or Boron Deficiency
These micronutrients help maintain cell wall strength. Lack of them can lead to weaker fruit skin that’s prone to splitting.

5. 🍉 Excessive Fertilization (Especially Nitrogen)
Too much nitrogen causes fast fruit growth that may outpace skin development.
