Hamungaya Farms originally started operating as a sugarmill processing fresh and chemical-free sugarcane juice into first class muscovado sugar. Although the mill has been in the family for generations it was registered officially with the Hamungaya trademark in 2003. The mill currently caters to its own sugarcane crop and the nearby sugarcane planters. It operates with the assistance of people in a village-type community. Apart from the muscovado sugar that it produces, the farm also advocates and develops organically-grown products. The farm products now include organic red and black rice as well as seasonal vegetables and fruits. Our products are available in all Iloilo Supermart branches. Day 2 — Countdown to Paunay

The cane isn't cutting itself, and it definitely isn't hauling itself either.

This is the team that makes Paunay happen every year — the ones who show up before sunrise, load more than they probably should, and keep going anyway. We're getting everyone ready for another season of this.

A few more weeks, and this becomes our everyday.

Right now, the cane is still growing and the gears aren't turning yet. This is the calm before it all starts.

Soon, this same field gets cut down row by row, and this same machine runs almost non-stop. For now, we're just watching both — and getting ready.
