The Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA), led by Executive Director Arnold "Ali" I. Atienza, participated in the Department of Agricultureโs ceremonial signing of key Memoranda of Understanding with Megawide Construction Corp., National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR), and Asian Pyrochem Technologies Inc. (APTI) to advance agricultural modernization, agroforestry development, and food security in the country.
Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. emphasized that the agreements reflect the administrationโs long-term development direction, highlighting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.โs vision for a modern and sustainable agriculture sector that ensures food security and improves farmersโ prosperity.
The partnerships focus on developing agro-solar farming systems, improving agri-infrastructure, strengthening food logistics and market access, and expanding agroforestry-based enterprises that support farmers, upland communities, and smallholder producers.
PhilFIDA expressed its full support for these initiatives, noting their alignment with efforts to further develop the countryโs natural fiber industry, particularly abaca and other high-value fiber crops, through sustainable and climate-smart production systems. The agency remains committed to working with the Department of Agriculture and its partners in promoting inclusive growth, strengthening rural livelihoods, and building a more resilient and competitive agriculture sector.
