Following the successful assessment by the Philippine Native Animal Development (PNAD) Program, a Multiplier Farmer associated with the Caraga Black Native Chicken Project-Nuclear Farm at CSU Main is now officially implementing the Philippine Native Animal Breeder Farm Certification.

As part of this process, the Technical Working Group (TWG) conducted an on-site inspection and validation at El Elogio Integrated Farm owned by Mr. Jude Cres Milan, located at Purok 9, Brgy. Sanghan, Cabadbaran City.

Leading the activity was Dr. Rene Caparas Santiago, DVM from the Department of Agriculture – Central Office / Bureau of Animal Industry, who provided technical guidance together with his team. He was accompanied by Ms. Edelmira R. Luminarias, PNAD Regional Focal Person, and Ms. Ivy Kristine Arreza, Regional Livestock Coordinator, both from DA-Caraga. Also present were Ms. Maria Arceli C. Soria, City Agriculturist, Mr. Intuas E. G**o, Livestock Technical Staff, and Ms. Rhoda Mante, LSA Focal Coordinator.

The primary objective of the inspection is to verify the farm's compliance with the standards and requirements set by the PNAD Program for breeder farm.😇

The Caraga Black Native Chicken Project, in collaboration with ATI - Region 13, successfully held its Batch 3 Training last April 15-17, 2026, at the DA RES Facility in Tagbina, Surigao del Sur.

The training focused on "Integrated Coconut-Chicken Production," a method aimed at optimizing land utilization and improving livelihood. Members from different Farmers Associations participated in the activity, which was made possible through the support of ATI-Region 13.

Project Leader Prof. Tomas M. Austral Jr. led the discussions, imparting knowledge on breed selection, housing, and health management. The training successfully equipped the farmers with the necessary skills and ideas for sustainable production.

Committed to empower farmers and bridge the gap between research and practice, the Caraga Black Native Chicken Project, in partnership with the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) - Region 13, successfully conducted its Batch 2 Training Series. The event took place on March 25–27, 2026, at the DA RES Facility in Tagbina, Surigao del Sur.

Focusing on "Integrated Coconut-Chicken Production," the program introduced a sustainable farming system designed to maximize land use efficiency and increase farmers' income. Representatives from various Farmers Associations attended the sessions, which were generously sponsored and supported by ATI-Region 13.

Serving as the resource speaker, Prof. Tomas M. Austral Jr., Project Leader, shared his technical expertise on critical topics including breed selection, housing design, and health management. Held on March 3–4, 2026, at the DA RES in Tagbina, the event focused on empowering local agricultural farmers.

The Caraga Black Native Chicken Research Project Team extends its warmest congratulations to Prof. Tomas M. Austral Jr., CBNC Research Project Leader/CAA Faculty of Caraga State University, for the successful registration of his Industrial Design application with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines.

The registered innovation is a Brooder, designed by Prof. Austral himself. This achievement is a testament to his dedication to innovation and design excellence. It also reflects the University's strong commitment to promoting and protecting intellectual property. The Department of Agriculture Tagbina SDS, in collaboration with Caraga State University-Caraga Black Native Chicken Team and the Agricultural Training Institute Region 13, distributed a total of 260 Native Chicken Breed to 26 NCFRS Registered Farmers. This initiative followed a successful 3-day seminar on "Training on Integrated Coconut - Chicken Production" held at DA Tagbina SDS from September 17-19, 2025. The participants expressed their excitement to implement their newly acquired integration strategies upon receiving the native chicken breed, agricultural plant cuttings, and other resources.
