4th LAMBAGO TREE GROWING | ILAYA RIVERSIDE, BALULANG, CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY 🌳
Grateful to be part of the 4th Lambago Tree Growing Activity at Ilaya Riverside, Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City—a meaningful gathering of different sectors, organizations, institutions, students, community leaders, and environmental advocates united by one common purpose: to care for our environment and leave something green for the generations to come. This meaningful environmental initiative is headed by Congressman Rufus Rodriguez and Vice Mayor Jocelyn “Bebot” Rodriguez, whose continued efforts have helped promote the planting and preservation of the Lambago tree, a tree deeply connected to the history and identity of Cagayan de Oro.
The Lambago tree is more than just a tree. It carries a part of the history and identity of Cagayan de Oro. Its planting along riverbanks also contributes to environmental protection, particularly in helping stabilize riverbank areas and reduce soil erosion.
What makes this initiative even more inspiring is its growing momentum. From 160 seedlings in its first year, the program grew to 360 in 2024 and 600 in 2025, demonstrating what collective action can accomplish when people and institutions work together.
Today, we are reminded that environmental stewardship is not the responsibility of one person or one organization—it is a shared responsibility.
🌱 Plant a tree.
🤝 Build partnerships.
🌊 Protect our rivers.
🌳 Preserve our heritage.
❤️ Leave a greener Cagayan de Oro for the next generation.
May every Lambago we plant today become a living testimony of our commitment to Kalambagohan—Cagayan de Oro, a city that grows greener through unity and bayanihan.
